June 18, 2024 – Team Dinner

To close out our 2024 season, our terrier-ific athletes, our doggone great Rude Rec coaches, our fur-endly neighborhood M+M coaches and our families gathered on June 18th at Cheuy Fu’s for our Team Dinner.

As we dined on Char Shu Pork rice bowls, Cilantro Korean beef burritos and various appetizers, Tom gave a speech that we all pup-tended to pay attention to. It was a grrrreat speech about something or other. He probably mentioned how wonder-fur the team is, how grrreeat the season was, blah, blah, etc. The food was really good.

Being serious, Tom talked about the dedication of our athletes, our coaches and those who supported the team throughout the season. It’s these people who make Rude Dogs the team it is today. He thanked everyone for the amount of effort they put in and reminded us once again that it isn’t his team, it’s all y’alls team. (A new motto? “Rude Dogs Powerlifting – It’s All Y’alls Team”)

There was some discussion about how long the team has been around (it started in 2003 so 2024 was the 22nd season), how many lifters we had this season (12 paw-some athletes are listed on the site – 11 attended Regionals, 9 attended State) and whether those athletes who defected to swimming for the State Games should be made to pay for the Team Dinner (it was decided no).

We should thank Jade, our server at Cheuy Fu’s, who single-handedly managed to keep our orders straight and the food and drinks coming.

And a Great Dane “Thank you” to Scott, a fur-end of The Dogfather, for his generous Dalmatian that paid for the dinner.

We hope to see everyone next season!

WOOF!!!!!!
