Updates, Alerts and WOOFS!

This page contains the most pup-to-date in-fur-mation on the Rude Dogs team! Check back here to see what’s up.

  • Registration is now open!

Registration for the 25th Season of Rude Dogs Powerlifting is now open! It will close November 1, 2026. Per SO Colorado, this will be the only opportunity to register for powerlifting.

Follow the link on the Join page to register. SO Colorado no longer requires every athlete to have a medical release. They have also switched to an “annual application” process for athletes.

For coaches, you will still need to know when your Class A expires and renew it before that happens. If you are uncertain of the date, you can contact Katy Mittel, the Denver Regional Manager, and she can give you the renewal date.

Any questions, please contact us at info@rudedogs.org

  • Registration Opens Oct 5th!

Last year, SO Colorado moved paw-erlifting to their Winter Season registration. By doing so, the teams received their rosters and were able to start practices well before the April Denver/Northeast Regional meet in Greeley.

This year, they are doing the same thing. Registration for powerlifting athletes and coaches will open October 5th and will run through November 1st.

Remember when you register to select that you have a team and then select Rude Dogs and Tom Miller from the drop down menu.

As of this writing, our first practice is scheduled for Tuesday, February 2, 2027, at 6:30 p.m. at our paw-ffice – Rude Recreation Center (2855 W Holden Place, Denver, 80204 – near the intersection of Colfax and Federal). Practices will run every Tuesday until State Games in June.

We will also be offering an optional (but highly recommended) second practice with our partners and fur-endly neighbor-hound coaches at Muscle + Mindset. The first Mighty Mutts practice is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, February 25, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. at their location (110 Yuma, Denver CO). These practices will run every other Thursday until the State Games in June.

A calendar with all scheduled practices and meets will be available on this website. There is also a page with maps showing all of these locations.

If you participated in our 2026 season, you’ll be receiving an email (from our new email address info@rudedogs.org) with further details.

One final note: 2027 will be the 175th dog season (25th in human years) of the Rude Dogs. We hope you’ll join The Bark Side and celebrate this milestone!

  • Website Updates

As we get closer to the start of our 25th Season, we’ve been making some paw-some updates to the website. These updates should make the website easier to navigate.

The biggest change you’ll notice is a new home page. This should debut around October 1st. It will give a new visitor our story and help them meet and join our team.

The Updates, Alerts and WOOF! page has also been updated. The page is now easier to keep current and can be updated by us from almost anywhere.

The main menu has also been streamlined. While links to the current season’s practice and meet photos will remain on the main menu, links to past years have been moved to a Past Seasons and History page – a place where you can dig into Rude Dogs memories.

We have added a page with our most current schedule. Now you can easily see when we have practices and meets.

Contacting us is also easier. We now have “domain name” email addresses. Our main address is info@rudedogs.org and there are links to contact us on several pages.

Donations are also easier. Donation buttons now lead directly to the Rude Dogs’ Colorado Gives page. Your donations go directly to Special Olympics Colorado and are credited to Rude Dogs.

While several of these changes are still in “Draft” mode, they will be rolling out around Oct 1st with the new home page.

Whether you are new to the team or a returning member, we hope these updates will make your visit more enjoyable and you can easily find what you need.

Remember, the upcoming 2027 season will also be our 175th year (well, in dog years). We are already making plans to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. If you have any ideas on celebrations, please let us know.

A very tentative date for our first practice is Tuesday, February 2, 2027 at Rude Recreation. Subject to change, but with a lot of notice.

    See you in 2027!
