The Rude Dogs Powerlifting team started in 2003 with two lifters and one coach. Over the years we’ve grown and shrunk and grown again, gaining and losing members and coaches along the way. All are welcome to join and be a Rude Dog. All it takes is a willingness to work hard and try your best. And guess what? You don’t need to know anything about Powerlifting.
We’ll teach you!
Lifters Danny and Ed with Coach Tom. They would go on to become the Rude Dogs.

Our philosophy is simple: Be Safe and Have Fun! And let me tell you, the Rude Dogs are all about having fun! And eating donuts. And Chinese buffet. And deep dish pizza! Where was I? Oh, things we’re about! Of course we’re about trying our hardest, achieving personal bests, and hauling in the medals at competitions.
Over the years, Rude Dogs lifters have competed in National and World Powerlifting Games, set Colorado State Powerlifting Records, and have even been recognized by the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame.
When it’s time to get busy, we do just that!

Rude Dogs circa 2016
The Rude Dogs practice season runs from March through early June. We practice at the WOOF-TASTIC Rude Recreation Center, otherwise known as our PAW-FFICE!. Practices are usually once a week, for 1-2 hrs. Our partners at Muscle + Mindset offer an additional bi-weekly practice session that several of our lifters participate in.
There are two competitions during our season: Regionals which are normally held in April in Greeley and State Games which are held in June in Grand Junction. We also have a Victory Dinner at the season’s end and usually a fun event during the season.
