The Rude Dogs got the pack together and helped raise funds for SO Colorado by joining the Broomfield Plane Pull. Instead of lifting, pressing and squatting, our grrrr-eat athletes traveled to Rocky Mountain Metro Airport in Broomfield and had a terrier-ific time pulling a 65,000 lb Gulfstream IV jet. We were next to active runways and taxi ways so there was a lot going on. But the dog pack stayed focused on their goal even if our pup-arrazo David got distracted by a helicopter.
Jimmy started the day warming up with burpees with Alex, a member of the Colorado National Guard. Our dog-team came in with a time of 8.917 hours. Wait, no, minutes. 8.917 minutes. Um, that still doesn’t sound right. I know! Seconds!!!! The team pulled the plane in 8.917 seconds. The Rude Dogs came in 2nd out of the 16 teams in our category (the winning team’s time was 8.51 seconds – less than half a second faster) and 8th overall out of the 70-ish teams that competed that day (83 teams registered but not all of them competed). This is a very good showing and something we can all be dog-gone proud of. After a long, hot day, our dog tired athletes headed back home.
A big Rude Dogs “Thank you!” to Mary for coordinating all of this.
And thank you to everyone who donated to Special Olympics Colorado! Thanks to you our team raised over $4,700. Your donations will help our athletes excel at all they do.
WOOF!
