Once again our intre-pug lifters and coaches made their way to the fur-miliar surroundings of Rude Recreation Center for another paw-some evening.
Our su-paw-star lifters – Che, Robert, Luis, James, Zach, RJ, Mai-Lin, Ryan and Thomas – were joined by doggone grrrreat coaches Anjelica, Sam, Natalie, Jonathan and Rebekah for a terrier-ific practice.
They are making re-bark-able progress. Thomas, the newest member of the pack, set PRs of 75 in the bench press and 115 in the deadlift. Ryan repeated his PR weight of 105 in the bench but did two reps this week at that weight for a new PR.
The Dogfather brought a bar jack to the practice for the team to use. The jack holds the bar off the ground in the deadlift so the coaches don’t have to hold the bar while trying to add weights. Rumor is he wandered into the forest, found the perfect pine tree, cut it down, dragged it to his home and carved the device from the tree himself.
Or, and this is just another possibility, he bought it at a sporting goods store.
The “carved it himself” version seemed to be the more pup-ular of the two possibilities. Either way, the coaches were happy to have the bar jack to use at the practice.
We hope to see everyone at our next Rude Rec practice on Feb 24th!
