Following in the paw prints of those very first pup-oneers of powerlifting, our athletes, coaches and families wended their way west across the Rocky Mountains to Grand Junction in search of green lights and gold. The athletes faced paws-atively tough competition but they found the gold, silver and bronze they sought.
Rudy, our Rude Dog mascot, made an appearance at Opening Ceremonies Friday night as the dog pack entered the stadium for the torch lighting. Competition on Saturday found our athletes squatting, pressing and lifting their way to medals.
The competition saw several personal bests. Jimmy set a personal best in the squat. Joe set a personal best in the bench press and then set two personal bests in the dead lift. Zach set personal bests in the bench press and the dead lift.
After a weekend of events and competition, our dog-tired athletes gathered up the gold, silver and bronze they had earned and, along with their families and coaches, made their way eastward back over the mountains to home. It was a long, busy weekend but a grrrr-eat time was had by all and we all look forward to next year’s season.
Pup-arazzo David was assisted by The Dogfather himself, Coach Tom, and Mary who provided additional photos of the events.
