The Rude Dogs arrived at the meet
Determined to never accept defeat
With each lift and each growl
They made the crowd howl
And left with a victory so sweet!
Our su-paw-star athletes – Andy, Anthony, Jack, Jimmy, Luis, RJ, Ryan, T and Zach – and paw-some coaches – The Dogfather, Anjelica and Jonathan – braved I-70 and traveled Westie-ward to Collie-rado Mesa Uni-fur-sity. They were once again in search of precious medals.
The com-pup-tion was fur-ocious but our su-paw-star lifters were ready for every challenge. The Bark Side raised the woof and showed everyone there who leads the pack!
Our lifters set 11 PRs during the meet and set 5 state records!
In the bench press:
Andy set a PR of 140 lbs, then broke it with another PR of 155! Ryan tied his PR of 150 lbs!
In the deadlift:
Anthony set a PR of 135 lbs, Jack set a PR of 190 lbs, and Jimmy set a PR of 285 lbs! Ryan tied his PR of 195 then broke it and set a new PR of 210.
RJ set a new PR of 330, which was also a State Record. He then broke it and set a new PR and State Record of 340!
T came into the meet with a State Record of 325 and a PR of 345 (a PR set at a practice is not an official State Record unless it is done at a meet). She first broke her State Record with a lift of 330. She then broke that, and set a new PR, with a lift of 350. Not done yet, she broke that State Record and set a new PR of 360 with her final lift of the meet!
In all, the Rude Dogs lifters earned:
16 Gold medals, 5 silver medals, 2 bronze medals, 5 – 4th place ribbons and 1 – 5th place ribbons!
All our paw-some athletes had a terrier-ific day and we are proud of what they accomplished!
As the ceremonies closed, we all braved I-70 a second time, this time heading east to home and to rest.
This is the last event of the 2025 season and there are a lot of people we need to thank.
First, we want to thank our terrier-ific lifters. They are the reason we do this and we are very proud of all of them. They worked hard this season to set 63 PRs and several State records!
We also want to thank The Dogfather – Coach Tom Miller – who started Rude Dogs more than 23 years ago. He will be the first to remind you this isn’t his team, it’s “all y’all’s team.” This year offered a bit more challenge for him after his bike accident lead to Rottweiler cuff fur-gery. We wish him continued recovery in the off season.
Thank you to our doggone great Rude Rec coaches – Anjelica, Jonathan, Josh, Gabe, Eryn and Rebekah – and our fur-endly neighborhood coaches at our partner – Muscle + Mindset – Amanda, Adam, Allison, Joe, Josh, Nick, Renee, and Will. Their expertise and training helped our lifters make this season grrrrreat.
Our team mom’s – Dorothy, Mary, and Vera – and our pup-arazzo – David – help keep the team running, even in the off season, and deserve our thanks.
Finally, you – the families and fur-ends of our lifters – also deserve our thanks. Your support is important to your athletes as well as the rest of the team.
We hope to see everyone in 2026!
